Toyota Repair: 93 Corolla electrical problems, corolla wagon, fuse box

Question
I have a 93 Corolla wagon with 107 k miles, cruise, and ac. Recently I lost my tail lights, brake lights, and instrument panel light.

Brought it to a mechanic. He poked the fuses in the lower left kick panel, heard a replacement fuse pop, then smelled smoke.

He opened the kick panel and found many of the wires fused. He said the panel is fried, due to moisture.

He says the work's not doing, and the car's not worth keeping.

I discovered my windshield leaks along the top.

Could this be the source of the problem? And should I go to a dealer to have them fix/replace the lower fuse box and wires?

Thanks.

Answer
I certainly would get another opinion from a shop that may be a little more professional like maybe the Toyota dealer and have them diagnose what is going on, minor wiring problems can sometimes be repaired but extensive damage will require the replacement of some of the wire looms, these are expensive, good luck with this.
