Toyota Repair: Air condition not workin, static pressure, cooling fans

Question
Hi, I have a 96 Camry, 4 cyl automatic. Recently I replaced the condensor due to collision and I had the entire system evacuated and recharged. When I went to pick up the car the mechanic told me that the compressor was bad. he said he even tried to jump directly from battery to the compressor and still didn't work. The A/C used to work before collision so when I checked the pressure on the low side, it measured 150 PSI. I let the charge out and brought the pressure down to 55 psi. Still when I switch on the a/c, the cooling fans runs for about 5 secs and then the green light just blinks. I did not see the clutch engage when I switched the a/c on.  Please help me.

Thanks,

Answer
I agree with the mechanic that there is a problem with the a/c compressor, a static pressure on the low side can be at 150psi until the compressor engages then the low side will drop to about 30psi and the high side will go to about 120psi, if there is no pressure drop and no difference between the high and low side it means the compressor is not functioning either because the clutch is not engaging or the compressor is seized internally and shuts off the clutch as soon as it turns on.
