Toyota Repair: smoke at start-up, internal combustion, independent shops

Question
What is the possible cause & solution to "white smoke" coming from exaust, at first start-up each day. I have a 1999 RAV4 with 86,000 miles?

Answer
It indicates that there is coolant in the exhaust system, possible blown headgasket, but a small amount may be normal, does the coolant reservoir bottle level drop and do you have to add coolant?
Was the engine ever severely overheated?
To be sure I recommend that you have the engine tested for a possible internal combustion leak, most independent shops can do this and all toyota dealers as well.
