Toyota Repair: Toyota Camry Stalls, strut mounts, toyota camry

Question
1997 Toyota Camry 2.2L stalls when started.  It turns over fine and immediately, rpm's drop to zero.  Sometimes pumping on the gas helps.  It eventually starts and runs fine.  This usually occurs on a cold start.  It doesn't always happen.
Also, Front end rattles in cold weather.  Very noisy.  Doesn't happen in warm weather. Thank You.

Answer
Two very common problems with camrys.
The idle and stalling problem is caused by the idle speed control(ISC) valve, it's located on the bottom of the throttle body, there are two ways to fix this, remove the valve and clean it or replace it, I would try to have it cleaned first, the new part is about $240. plus the labor time.
The front end rattle noise is caused by the upper strut mounts, they are just starting to go bad and will get worse as time goes by, the remedy is to remove the struts and replace the mounts.
