Tractor Repair: Deutz tractor bogging down, diesel fuel system, baldwin filters

Question
QUESTION: Hello. My 62 hp deutz tractor is starting to bog down when going up hills and then it also slows down almost to a stop on hills, it is the worst in high gear. In high gear it won't hardly take off from a stand still at all. I checked air filter and cleaned it. I dunno. thanks!

ANSWER: hello shiloh, run some diesel fuel system cleaner through it then replace your fuel filter(s) with new ones, do not run fuel system cleaner through your new filters, the junk that the cleaner loosens up will clog up your new filters. let me know if you have further questions, thanks

QUESTION: Whats the best way to go about changing my fuel filter? Do i need to bleed it out or what? How do i keep from getting air in the lines? Thanks. Should I buy the fuel treatment at walmart or napa or oreily's? Thanks again!

Answer
Napa, once you pull the old filter(s) make sure the old O ring has come off with the filter, then lube the new O ring on the filter with diesel. fill the fuel filter(s) with diesel and install.... if your unit has a mechanical pump primer, pump it till it becomes stiff or hard and start the unit. do not turn the unit over for more than fifteen seconds at a time till it starts.... have fun
