Triumph Repair: Stromberg 150s, joe curto, plastic bushings

Question
QUESTION: I have a pair of these carbs, the problem is they do not run in-synch. The back throttle shaft has 2-3 plastic bushings that are yellowed and are held tight with one single smallish screw, after initial start, I think the plastic bushing and screw no longer stays tight and the front/back do not rotate together, thus not performing well. What is the proper link to hold these together? I have a machined aluminum bushing on the front that appears to be okay. On a sidenote, even at warmup, the choke still needs to be pulled out about 1" for them to run properly, I hope this is a related problem, thanks Brent

ANSWER: On all the paired carbs in Triumphs I have seen, the linkage uses an S shaped metal spring with a bolt on each end to clamp the throttle shafts to the linkage.  Until you have the two carbs sync'd, it may be difficult to know if the choke cable is working correctly; it should move both chokes the same distance when pulled out, but if you have one carb running lean, then the other carb is trying to compensate for it.

QUESTION: where can I find these parts to correct problem?

Answer
1) you can check any of the regular parts places to see if they carry it or replacements (The Roadster Factory, Victoria British, Moss Motors, Spit Bits)
2) look on ebay for parts carbs and watch the pictures to see if the S springs are still on the carbs
3) join the triumph lists and forums and ask other users if anyone has any spares or recommended substitutions.
4) Joe Curto, the purported master of all things side draft british, may also be able to point you where to look, if he doesn't have them.
