UK Car Repair: my astra 16 ls, vacuum pipe, vacuum line

Question
hi my car is ok when i start it in the morning then it starts to go bad loses power through the gears from first to second very jumpy can you help me solve the problem i changed the spark plugs and fuel filters it is a 1998 astra

Answer
I'm thinking leaking vacuum line from the intake manifold is leaking, otherwise you'll need to run diagnostics (local garage/parts shop) for about £20, you do need the error codes for diagnosing modern engines, I think it;s the ODBII (2) system on the astra a very common system so easy to get diagnosed and resonably cheap - with the error codes I can point out the correct parts that need replacing/cleaning/adjusting.

Check the vacuum pipe though first, sound's like fuelling/timing issue, probably down to a loss of vacuum.

without a scan you're working blind. I can't stress that enough, you can but a bootload of parts and still not fix it that way.
