UK Car Repair: engine cooling fan, renault clio 1, auto electrician

Question
Hi I have a Renault Clio 1.4rt,silver in colour  reg number N638WFJ so quite old I know,oh yes it's a petrol engine.
The engine cooling fan is not working, however i have noticed there is a wire hanging down around the inside of the drivers side front wheel it is brown in colour, would this be anything to do with the problem?if so where should it be connected?
Many thanks Kim

Answer
It could be any of three things.

A broken fan motor.
 A broken fan thermostat
  A bad wire or connection.

This is a £30 + parts job from any honest auto electrician, should take a half hour.

If you want to have a go yourself you need to find the wiring to the fan motor (plugs into the fan motor), and the thermostat (stuck into the radiator, has 2 wires coming off it).
Trace all these wires back to the fusebox and see if you find the "hanging loose wire" is connected to the fan or thermostat.

If you could give me some photos of the engine bay, showing the whole engine bay from about 10 angles I will be able to figure out what's been messed up and how to put it right.

Sorry for late reply, been busy with my own car.

(you know you can use the cars internal heater, set on hot to cool the engine a little, just turn the fan on full and the heater on hot and it should provide a fair amount of cooling, not ideal in this weather but it stops you cooking your engine
