Volvo Repair: 940 stuck starter, volvo 940 gle, volvo 940

Question
I have a 1991 Volvo 940 GLE and I am trying to remove the starter.  I have disconnected all cables and undone the two large bolts, however, the starter will not budge.  Is it normal for it to be stuck in there so impossibly tight, or do I have a problem.  Any hints on how to remove it would be appreciated.

Answer
It depends on which setup you have. Some had a third bolt. Make sure it's not hidden under the heat shield. No, it is NOT normal for them to be stuck. Hit the end of the case with a plastic dead blow hammer. and see if that helps. Some had an additional bracket from the starter end bolts to a bracket to the block. Look hard, it's right in front of you!
