Auto body repair & detailing: Body work & Paint., rust spots, carpeting

I currently have a 68 Impala Convt. that I would like to have serviced (Body wrk & Paint)I've pulled out the back seats & carpeting & found some rust spots, holes etc. The body has some rust & I believe is restorable but, I don't want to completely drain my pockets....Do you have anyone that you recomend? & What can I do myself to prevent more rust?

I don't know where you live so I couldn't recommend a shop. But I can tell you that estimates are free and you will find some high and some low. Check around your area and get many estimates and compare them and ask many questions at the shops like, are you replacing the floor boards or patching, are you changing that door or are you patching it, etc. Then pick the one that best suits your budget. Some shop my like to use it for filler work  (in between other jobs)and take a year or so to get it done allowing you to make payments on the repairs. Expect to pay any where from $3000 to $7000.
