the overdrive light comes on when the switch is not touched, and will not go off at all now. The overdrive will now not engage and is unresponsive to the switch.  It used to be intermittent but now will not work at all.  Some time ago the position of the shifter lever ceased to correspond with the markings, for example it is one position off in each setting as if something has slipped. it was like that for some time and functioning fine until the overdrive problem.  the unit is topped up with fluid.

Jon, check fuse number 11 first.  If its good then remove the glove box.  To the left will be a white or orange relay.  Replace the relay.  Problem solved.  As far as the markings, you need to replace the bushings that are on the trans lever and the shifter lever underneath the car.  Roger
