Volvo Repair: 1992 240 sedan overheating in traffic, temp comp, comp board

Question
Roger - a few years ago you suggested to another person that overheating in traffic could be caused by a bad circuit board.  Where is this circuit board and how do I change it?  Many thanks in advance for your help and advice.

Tim

Answer
Hi Tim, Im assuming that the electric fan and all cooling components are functioning the way they should.  The circuit board Im talking about is the temp comp board located in the instrument cluster. You would have to remove the cluster and take the back panel off. Its a little computer board that controls the gas and temp gauge.  You should check with a temp gun to see if the car is actually overheating or not.  Let me know if you want to go further or if you want to study it and tackle it on your own.  Roger
