Volvo Repair: 1998 s70 lose of power, timing belt, idler pulley

Question
I have a 1998 S70. Yester day i heard a noise coming from the
right side of the engine. It was a constant noise that was not
very loud. Today I was pulling out of my apartment complex and
when I gave it gas it had very little power and the abs and tracks
lights came on. An upward pointing arrow light also came on.
The abs and tarcs lights went out then came back on but did not
stay on. I turned around and went home. I had the abs modul
replaced a few months ago. Not sure what happened

Answer
Micah, Me neither.  I would have the people that replaced your Module recheck it.  As far as loss of power, this is one of those things that I would have to look at before diagnosing.  It can be a number of things and I hope that your noise isnt the idler pulley on the timing belt.  If you start the car and its still making noise, turn it off immediately and have the car towed to the shop.  If that belt breaks, you are looking at serious engine damage that will cost 3-4 grand to repair.  Roger
