Volvo Repair: 93 245 no lights, cleaning ears, john dear

Question
no headlights or running lights.....but the headlights do come on when i hit the brake pedal....car has 202K....can troubleshoot electrics, but having a bit of trouble following the diagrams in bentleys....could this be two probs.?....where would be a logical place to start?

Dear John...
           Chances are pretty good that your problem is related to headlamp relay...the next question is....where is the relay?
              Look on floor area of drivers area...look forward kinda up...youll find a gang of relays...sort of in the middle...also in left upper corner same area...more relays...I think the light relay is a smaller size....
             Volvo really hides these relays well...sometimes way down under the carpet in a protected
way.
          LOOK at all your fuses well....dump any aluminum ones and install new brass ones after cleaning ears of fuse terminal.
