Volvo Repair: 1990 240 DL VOLVO STALL,THEN NO-START, solenoid starter, proper alignment

  DROVE A WARM ENGINE AFTER REPEATED STARTS ALL DAY(WITH NO SIGN OF TROUBLE)APPROXIMATELY 13 MILES,SHUT OFF,FILLED GAS TANK,DROVE CAR ABOUT 50 YARDS AND PARKED IT FOR 20 MIN. ON SLIGHT UPGRADE....IT STARTED,THEN STALLED AND FAILED TO TURN OVER AT ALL.BATTERY STRONG,NO FUSES BLOWN,BUT
WILL NOT CRANK.TAPPING SOLENOID-STARTER DIDN'T HELP,EVEN WHEN ALLOWED TO COOL FOR AN HOUR....
CONNECTIONS NOT LOOSE OR DIRTY,GOOD HEADLIGHTS,AND EVEN TRYING TO START(REPEATEDLY)IN NEUTRAL DIDN'T HELP. CAN YOU,PLEASE TRY...?

(POSSIBLE THAT SOLENOID OR STARTER ARMATURE GO BAD SO QUICK WITH NO HESITATION,WARNING,OR ANYTHING ON VOLVO B230F ENGINE ?)
  p.S.- CAR BOUGHT USED A WEEK AGO WITH FULL MAINTENANCE RECORDS---DOESN'T SEEM TO BE AN ABUSED
OR NEGLECTED SCENARIO-YET THE NO TURNOVER IS A MYSTERY.

tbe starter could go bad like this. it could also be a bad nuetral safety switch which is located under the shifter cover.I would remove shifter cover panel and check safety switch for proper alignment..there is a pin on the shifter handle that fits into a plastic guide piece on the switch be sure this is together properly.
