Volvo Repair: Elctrical problem (battery draining, car shut down) with Volvo S70, year 1998, volvo s70, proper diagnosis

Question
Dear Regis! Here is my, rather odd, problem. I started about a half a year ago, where I noticed that my headlights as well as as the dashborad gets dimmer and then again brighter (looks like voltage jumping up and down). Then, in the mornings the battery would look like draining (seemed to be harder to start up the engine). Then several times the battery went dead so I would have to call for AAA to jump-start. So, I said OK, it must be an old battery (it was 3+ years old). So replaced it and the first week it ran smoothly. But then another problem appeared - the car would shut down completely during me driving. It would allow me to start it up again though (so it doesn't look like the alternator). So when it started happing every 10-15 minutes I decided to leave the car on a parking. A couple of days later when I attempted to start it up - the battery (now - the new one!) was dead. Any sggestions? To me it seems like grounding-related problem. Am I wrong? Thanks a lot!

Answer
the battery going dead that quick would not bwe a ground problem.this is a draw on the system which could be many things including a short in the alternator.the stalling could be a connection problem either a ground or power supply.it will really need to be looked at for a proper diagnosis.
