Volvo Repair: unexplained chng in rpms, window switches, volvo s70

Question
Volvo problem

I just bought a 1998 Volvo S70 with 75,000 miles.
Problem: it has an intermittent problem of the rpm's falling. One time it happened was while sitting idling. It dropped from 900 from to 750 only for less than a second and then resumed. It also happens in slow stop and go traffic, which gives you the feeling that it is going to stall.
It does not happen every day and it happens both with a cold and hot engine. The only other problem that I had that I thought was related was that the air conditioning was cycling a lot when I first got it but I recharged it and it seems fine although it still seems to cycle more often for my liking.
Would it help to go to a dealer and put it on a diagnostic computer because it is still intermittent?
I also replaced the timing belt, and the brakes and front rotors.

Problem: One day the inside driver handle and window switch became very warm, and you could feel hot air coming from it. I know sometimes heat from the engine compartment escapes thru the body frame but it does not happen consistently from that area when it gets hot.

Thank you,

Answer
I have seen the window switches get warm from the switch being stuck for the up or down position.but I have not seen the door handle get warm.

it may be worth having the fuel system checked with the diagnostic machine.there was an upgrade for this system a while back not sure if it is still available.it was a software upgrade.it may be due to a idle speed motor that is failing intermitently.
