BMW: E30iC AWD, montreal quebec canada, shock tower

Question
My question is simple: is it possible to install the drivetrain of the iX on a E30iC so it will make a E30iC All wheel drive? Dost it involve a lot of work? I know that the shock tower of a iX are a different angle than the regular E30, or maybe the convertible chassis is too much asking for the iX drive train? I'm ready to buy both of those cars, same years (325iX 5 speeds 1991 and a 325iC 5 speeds 1991)to be able to make the proper transfer.I am currently driving a audi TQ Avant, I own 2 E30 in the past, 1 convertible and 1 sedan 4 doors. The convertible one was really deceiving in the snow (I'm from Montreal, Quebec, Canada)but amazing and funny handling in summer time, I'd like to drive another one but because I can't keep 2 cars, the idea of using the iX drive train on the iC seem to be interesting, if it's possible. I would appreciate your answer if you can. Or redirect me to someone who can help me. Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer
Patrice,
I have actually never done this swap, so I'm not sure if it will work or not.  However you will have to add the transfer case, so the front wheels will be powered.

Personally, I dont think the chassis is strong enough for any additional stress added by AWD.  I own a convertible now, and it flexes quite a bit.

As far as fitment issues, I have no idea.

 I would suggest checking out:

There are quite a few Canadians on this forum, and several guys who own the iX E30's.

 Good luck,
