Cadillac: a/c recharge??, ac compressor, ac system

I have a 93 deville and everytime I push "auto" on the climate control to charge the a/c, it will change over to "econ" on its own. if I push "auto" again, it will change back over only for a second and the "service air cond" light will illuminate for a moment. basically, what I need to know is how to get it to stay on auto long enough to charge the a/c??

If you have to add freon, Then you have a leak in the AC system that needs to be fixed FIRST.

Just to add freon you can jumper the AC compressor relay. E-mail me at: onlineautohelp@msn.com and I can e-mail you an electrical schematic and indicate where the AC compressor relay is located and which terminals to jumper.

Try pushing the defrost button with the engine running and see if the compressor will cycle ON and OFF.
