Cadillac: 1992 Cadillac heating problem., heater hoses, chassis restoration

Question
Codes cleared, but only 82 /84 which I am already aware of from suspension modifications.
As soon as I start cat..service engine soon light comes on and the fan starts to blow and controls are scrambled.. :(
Any suggestions?

Hello, I have a 1992 Cadillac that I have just completed all chassis restoration on, however I had this problems when I parked the car last winter,

Problem: Car overheats and temp gaauge climbs above 240 deg then the car shuts down.

Result: the gauges get scrambled and the heater comes on with hot heat and cannot be shut off.

After several attempts for changing the following:
NR = No positive result.

1: Has brand new water pump & system flush - NPR
2: Thermostat. (Removed for testing) - NPR
3: New Rad - NPR
4: New rad & heater hoses  - NPR
5: New rad & overflow cap  - NPR
6: New htr core - NPR
7: New main computer  - NPR
8: Changed engine.  Possible head gasket  - NPR
8: Changed temp sensors  - NPR

Problem still existed when the car heats up, however the actual temp of the motor seems to be considerable lower, since the fan comes on and goes off while car is idling and engine temp is adjusted by fan.

However today, after changing the temp semsor, as soon as I turn on the ignition, the gauges get scrambled and the heater comes on with hot heat and cannot be shut off.

The motor however can idle forever and does not shut down, however the heater blower fan is on constantly and cannot feel any AC.

I think I have all the bases covered but at a loss for any other options.  Could all this be related to the Heater / AC programmer?

Reason I am asking is that I read the forum and my mechanic suggested that this could be a problem but it is rather expensive to be guessing at this point after spending about $4k on the restoration and current problem as stated above.

I had a problem last year with the AC unit making a lot of noise and had disconnected it.  This problem started about 1 month after and I am wondering if somehow it could be related, wherein expected logic and feedback to the computer is missing , hence affecting the current module.

I have taken it out for visual inspection, but can see mothing out of the ordinary.

HELP!! Please advise.

It will give us a place to start to see if any codes exist.


1. Ignition ON, Engine OFF.

2. Locate the OFF and WARMER buttons on your control panel.

3. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons for 2 seconds and release.

4. Write down any letters and numbers that appear.

5. Turn OFF ignition.

No letters infront of these numbers ?.

Did you have this heat problem before you altered the suspension ?.

What was done to the vehicle prior to this problem.

Explain: controls are scrambled ?. What contyrols ?
