Chevrolet: 2001 Chevy S -10 Extreme, drive shaft, pot hole

Does this truck have a history of the drive shaft falling out? My son drives this truck and going down the freeway the driveshaft falls out...bounces up and punctures his gas tank. He says he had no prior warning, I'm thinking, Yeah Right!!

Don't blame your son , it  was probably the U-joints that wore out and it will do just what it did  as it can even flip a car over if the front of the drive shaft stuck into a pot hole. than the car would pole vault.- it must have had a worn U-joint
