Chevrolet: Tachometer dont work, 1990 camaro rs, coil wire

I have a 1990 Camaro RS. The tachometer doesn't work. I bought the car this way. It registers all the way over to the right. I seen a lot of others with the same problem. Whats the fix

  HI ; as far as the tach . is it hooked up right ? and is the pos. wire going to a place where it should not go.
also some tachs will show twice the rpms  with some systems. I would just  check the tach. out and try the tach with the one coil wire to it with the tach grounded. if it works than wire it up the rest of the way. if it will not work than you will know it is broken or burnt out.
