Chevrolet: 97 Cavalier 2.2 starter solenoid, starter solenoid, chevy dealer

Question
The black plastic end of the starter solenoid (where the wires connect) cracked and about 1/4 of it fell away, allowing a wire to fall loose, so it won't start.  Is it necessary/advisable to replace the entire starter & solenoid, or can we just replace the plastic end, if we could get it off? (We tried taking off just the solenoid, looks like they don't want us to do that).  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Aron;
     Well you might be able to just buy the selonoid but you will have to remove the starter it to repair it and the price is  almost the same so  I would get a rebuilt starter if you have to , First REMOVE the BATTERY Term. from the battery on the positive side before you do anything, it could blow up if you crossed the wire with a   wrench. You must be x-carefull when you tighten the nut on that plastic.
You can call up a CHEVY DEALER parts dept. and ask them if they have the plastic part . cant hurt...
