1997 dodge 1500 truck with a A518 trans. had it rebiult. now it wont shift out of 1st gear.

How long has it been since the rebuild?I'd take it right back to them,they should have given you a warranty with the rebuild!Could be a shift solenoid,but since it's been rebuilt they've been all through the transmission so it's hard to say what it is.
it was rebuild as a side job found the dude in the newspaper he told me to have it scand i did.the men at the shop say it scand ok. that the 1st dude chaeted me.and that he do it right cost $800 to $1800. i dont  know . but i do im "    "?HELP whitch solenoild the converter clutch or o.d.

Try this....Go to an auto parts store and ask them to get you a can of TransTune,this stuff is made by SeaFoam.Put  the entire can in the transmission with the existing transmission fluid.Drive the truck to let it circulate through the transmission.I did this to mine, it was doing the same thing,It fixed it.The problem is that i can't diagnose a transmission problem due to the fact that it could be anything from a sticky valve to needing an entire rebuild.I really don't know what it is.Try the transtune,i bet this will fix the problem.
