Dodge: Dodge Caravan fan belt, dodge caravan, fan belt

Question
I have a 2000 Caravan and have been through 4 fan belts. This new one slips periodically when driving down the highway at constant speed. It slips when I first start the engine and often throughout the day. What is my problem? (I do have 180k highway miles, but it started at 36,000)
Thanks
Joe

Answer
Joe,
If the engine is eating the belts, something isn't lined up.Aserentine belt has grooves and any misaligned pulleys can eat at the belts. As far as the slipping are all the pulleys tight and aligned properly.Unless you have a pulley bearing locking up.Check the idler pulley and see if it needs replacing.Sometimes these pulleys will lock up and the belt will slip.
