Ford: no ignition power, ford lariat, gauge wires

Question
I have a 1989 Ford Lariat 1/2 ton 4x4. When I put the key in the ignition, the lights come on, ignition is live, when key is turned the electrical power kicks off. After a short time it resets. Turn ignition on again same problem.but then doesn't reset. I checked the battery, it's okay. If I jump from battery to cellonoid the engine turns over. The truck has sat thru the winter, but when it was put away it ran/started fine. Thank you. Have enjoyed reading many of your problem solving answers.

Answer
alright... first thing we need to try is checking power at the steering column... under the steering colummn is a connector that has a lot of heavy gauge wires in it... there should be some of them that are yellow... check those for 12V power(They should be live all of the time... ) That would be to start... try that and let me know what happens... I'll try and send you some wiring diagrams tonight... Have a great day...
