Ford: power window operation, auto locks, mustang gt

Question
i have a 1997 mustang gt, the last couple of days both driver and passenger power windows have been going up by themselves at the same time, never one window or the other, always both whether i'm driving or the car is sitting in the driveway with the ignition turned to on position to get power??? i left the windows up and sat in the car for a bit then i can hear the module that's down in the driver's side door panel clicking as if it's trying to put the windows up like if you kept hitting the up button with the windows already up. any ideas where i should start? there is no problem with the windows going down on there own, just up.

Answer
Is it a convertible or a coupe?? With wiring your always out there in the dark without the vehicle in your presence but I am going to suggest checking the master window switch for problems. Really it is the only thing common with the two windows. The clicking you hear is the circuit breaker opening and closing the contacts. With the master window switch removed you should no longer have this concern with the circuit breaker clicking. I recommend this so we do not damage a window motor. Has anyone been into the doors previously installing auto locks for a security or wiring in new speakers. Some aftermarket security systems allow the windows to roll up in the event that the system thinks it is being stolen. Let me know how things go with the master switch. I have seen that switch do some weird things now and again.

Best of luck
