Ford: Ford Taurus Core Heater, licensed mechanic, ford taurus

Question
i am a 16 year old student who has a passion in auto mechanics, and i need a core heater installed in my 1996 ford taurus gl it was done once before on this car but the mechanic didn't know what he was doing, he charged $1200 and a few months later it blew again, and he blamed electrolysis, but electrolysis was not actually the problem. my auto teacher thinks that i am capable of doing the installation, i am aware how the procedure works, but i am wondering what can be screwed up if i make a mistake, i cannot afford to have a licensed mechanic do this job thank you

Answer
ADam this is a major job the book time is 13.3 hrs are you sure you want to try this. First of all you had to  of gotten a warr. with your work if not then you have a case  of the work did get done and someone put stop leak and it didn't hold up. after all every good tech knows that  electrolysis takes a long peroid of time to form and it only happens when the vehicle has poor ground from batt. to body and if that was the case then the vehicle would have hard starting ,head lights filckering and so on, so someone is full of S*&#@.i have seen this happen so many times.but if you want to try it then just go to your auto store and get a book on your vehicle .its to much to list good luck
