Ford: Lincoln Cougar 1994, running kind, tps sensor

Question
Hello,

My problem is that I was driving to my friends house the other day, and the engine was running kind of rough. It was hesitating when I accelerate. Then when I stopped at a light, it would run really rough in Idle. Then returning from my friends house, the engine light came on. The car is a 1994 Lincoln Cougar, but only has 30,000 miles. It was one of those cars that was only driven once a week. I was just wondering if you had any idea what would cause this, we just had the transmission flushed and brand new fluids put in it.

Thanks,

Answer
When you have a check engine lite that comes on the computer is telling you that one or more sensors is bad on the vehicle. It could be a 02 sensor to a tps sensor. The only way to tell is have a diagnostic run on the vehicle for around $50.00. Once they pinpoint the problem, then you can change out the sensor yourself, or have them do it. Sensors are not cheap, depends on which one.. Thanks..
