GM-GMC: 1996 chevy truck, engine cranks, chevy 305

Question
I put a new tranny in a 96 chevy 305 vortex fuel injected truck myself and now the engine only turns but will not start. Could i have thrown the timing off? How do i adjust the timing if so?

If the engine cranks but does not run.  Do a couple quick checks to determine if you have fuel and spark.  Once you determine if you do or don't have one or the other than you can proceed with diagnosis.  I doubt that you would affect the timing replacing the tranny unless your distributor contacted the firewall and damaged the distributor itself.
