GM-GMC: Starter problems, new distributor cap, gmc suburban

Question
Hi Mr Jacobson,
I am having a problem with my 99 GMC suburban k1500 with starting. I installed a new alternator, new battery, new distributor cap, new spark plugs and wires and a new starter. When I wake up in the morning and start the truck for the first time of the day it starts fine, once I arrive at work and then go to start it again about 2 hrs later it clicks once and the engine does not turn over. I have had to crawl underneath the truck and jump the starter inorder for it to start, before it would do it once in a while but now it's pretty normal and the parts I bought are less than 90 days old and have already changed the starter twice with a new one. Any help you have to offer would be greatly appreciated, I'm at my wits end here.. Thanks again.

Answer
GM has ignition switch problems on many vehicles.

I would install a new switch and see if the problem goes away.

The switich is usually located at the base of the steering column on the top side of it.  The steering column needs to be lowered, but not removed, in order to reach the switch to replace it.
