GM-GMC: buzzing coming from vents, chevy blazer, auto parts stores

Question
Hi Harry,
I have a '98 Chevy Blazer 4dr. I turned on the car this morning and the air conditioner/heater was making a buzzing sound that got faster as the fan speed increased. It completely stops when the ac/heater is off. Is this the blower fan? If so, I know they hide them near the firewall. I just wanted to know if I should by this at the autoparts store or am I better off going to the junkyard for the part?

Answer
Ivan,

You can usually get a lifetime warranty on the fan blower motor from auto parts stores these days.  Shop around for prices and ask about the warranty offered.  www.partsamerica.com and www.autozone.com are good places to start.  www.rockauto.com may offer you a low price, but partsamerica will match it if you call them at 800-808-0698.

Salvage yards usuually give a 30 to 90 day warranty.  You can check prices on used parts at www.car-part.com
