Mitsubishi: 4WD Indicator Light, mitsubishi montero sport, mitsubishi montero

Question
Hello I have a  1998 Mitsubishi Montero Sport Truck. V6 engine 130,000 miles on it. The Clutch was replaced a year ago.
My question is the 4wd indicator light keeps coming on. It will come on for a day of driving and then disappear for a week! Now the Anti lock indictor is on with the 4wd light. What is the problem? Please help me!

Answer
Hi Tammy,

Has this been happening since the clutch renewal?

A bad sensor at one of the wheels would cause the ABS light. Each wheel has an electromagnetic sensor.

A bad computer could cause both of these to happen.

I think though, it's a bad input speed sensor on the transmission.

Let's do this. Run it down to your mechanic and have him scan the system, resubmit to me the codes and I will be able to determine where to go next. If you have a Cottman Transmission shop near you they will do thid for free.

Thanks for the great rating! How did it turn out?
