Oldsmobile/Buick: 1989 oldsmobile touring sedan brake system, stopping distance, mckenna

my brake light came on driving to work.  when i returned to my car after work the brakes did not work.  i tried to bleed them thinking that was the problem.  the front brakes bled but not like they should have, and the back brakes did not bleed at all.  what is wrong with my brakes. please help me

I'm going to need alot more information then what you gave me .

1. Did you notice any difference in regard to the stopping distance or feel of the brake pedal after that light came on ?

2. I really don't know much about 89-90 Olds brake systems .
