Saab: 93 saab 900 gear shift lever, Saab Shift Lever

In the cold weather my gear shift lever literally broke in half at the bottom of the console. I's it possible to weld?...Easy to replace the whole gear shift lever? Any references for trying to replace on my own?

 I would suggest getting a used shift lever from an auto recycler. I don't think welding would be a strong as the original. Its not too difficult to replace, if you have the inclination. Although the procedure is straightforward, its a bit long for inclusion here.  I'd recommend a good manual (Haynes, Robert Bently) or you can subscribe online ($25/year/vehicle)for perhaps the most comprehensive source of information at <alldatadiy.com>.
