Volkswagen: VW Passatt - Front suspension knocks, tdi vw, head technician

Read your response re 1997 Passat knocking on change of direction - mine did this too - it's a 2003 1.9SE TDI - VW replaced shocks, anti-roll bar bushes - still knocked - then head technician at local VW garage placed his palms on the passenger side dash, rocked it back & forth and the "Suspension" knock materialised - car in today for dash re-fitting - not a question, just thought I'd share this with you - I was armed with your response had we not figured the problem !

thankyou for letting me know. i have not come across a manufacturing problem like this on passat's. i now know to keep an eye out for similar issues. you have taught a so called expert a new thing. i hope for vw's sake that this is an isolated incident, however i feel it may be a machine / robot error and therefore may re-occure. for your piece of mind, they used to check the robots on a regular basis to prevent such problems.
