Volvo: starting problem volvo 340 estate, volvo 340, volvo dealer

Question
This car has gradually developed a starting problem. The engine turns over, the Volvo dealer has checked electrics, injectors, replaced the mass meter. Some times it starts but more often it doesn't. Could the alarm system affect this? could a faulty ignition switch affect this. We are at a lost, the car is in France and we need to get back to UK for Christmas. Please help!

Answer
Roger,
Your car will need some hands on work. You need to see if when it will not start is there fuel pressure, is there spark? The alarm works where the engine will not crank over, you said that it will crank just not start. If you do not have fuel is power flowing to the pumps? If not where and how far can you trace it? Did you read the fault codes and address them? If the dealer tested the car they must of had it when it did not act up. You may have to leave it longer so they can have the car when it will not start.
