Volvo: 1988 245 squeak after transmission swap, noel smith, torque converter

Question
Hello Ray, I just replaced my AW70 tranny with another used AW70 due to loss of 3rd gear. I had no problem replacing it and with the torque converter cleaned out it took 6 quarts of transmission fluid to top it off. I took it for a test drive and as I gained speed in forward or reverse I heard a hit and miss squeak begin and progressively get faster with acceleration. From inside the car it sounds like it is located in front of the floor shifter. I elevated the left rear tire and let the tranny drive that wheel freely, no squeak. Any suggestions on what this could be and how I would go about diagnosing the source. Thank you so much, Noel Smith

Answer
Noel,
I would try to run the car on a rack with all the wheels off the ground to see if I could hear the noise. I have heard the front pump in a trans make noise. I have heard the driveshaft center bearing and or u-joints make noise.
This repair will require someone that can trace the noise to it origin. Sorry not a short answer for your problem.
