Volvo: Cruise control installation&trans, vacuum servo, neutral safety switch

Question

Hello Ray, I have the all necessary parts to install cruise control, the main switch, relay, pump and vacuum servo, I have installed the pump and servo and the control switch with the turn signal, however there is a switch called delete switch and I was told to install it in front of the brake pedal and I was also told this switch should be triggered unless the brake pedal is depressed however I couldnt figure out how to attach this delete switch in front of the brake pedal.. any ideas? also there are two sockets for plugs on the switch too.. if you can make any comments I'll be happy, and one last question.. my car doesnt start when the trans is in position "N" however it starts normally if in position "P" what might be the cause of this problem?

thanks...

Answer
Mete,
The switch at the brake pedal should have a metal bracket to attach it to. It is either screwed or riveted into place. If you do not have one, you will have to search one out.
The electrical contacts are to complete the circuit to the control unit. When the brake is depressed that breaks the connection and turns off the cruise.
The neutral safety switch might need adjusting (for the starting) or replacement. 240's 740's 940's it is on the shift lever.
