Volvo: OBD II CODE P0102/P0103, late model cars, obd ii code

Question
I first had P0102. Changed the MAF cleared the code drove for about 6 min, then
engine light came on. Got home  checked it once more and  P0103code came
on. Now a ruff start but will start. why when harness to MAF not conected, i have
no problem starting? Do i need the MAF hooked up? What else might it be?
Thank you!

Answer
Manuel,
Those codes that you have indicate a MAF. On the late model cars the MAF needs to be hooked up to start. If you try and start the car without the MAF plugged in it will set a code.
Clean the connections and reset the codes, drive the car and read the codes once again. If you continue to get a MAF fault code replace and retest.
