I realize you stated up to 2000, I have a 2001 witha challanging proplem. Please give it a try or an educated guess, thanks. The left and right brake lights do not work, I am getting a brake light failur message on the dask info center. However the center brake light in the rear window works. I have changed the bulbs,checked all the fuses and have TRIED to get a wiring diagram. Any clues thanks Phil

There is a relay in the relay panel in the trunk area and that relay may have gone bad. The systen uses a CAN system for wiring (Controller area network) that is operated by control units that communcate with each other, so it gets a bit tricky. You may want to see a shop that can help.
