Volvo: 1989 240 STARTING, batt, 12 volts

Question
CAR HAS RUN INCREDIBLE, NO PROBS. PARKED IT ONE NIGHT, WENT OUT NEXT MORNING, AND IT WON'T START.  HAVE POWER (LIGHTS, ETC) BUT NO CLICK, NO INDICATION THAT THERE'S A LOW BATT OR ANYTHING.  JUST WON'T EVEN MAKE A NOISE EXCEPT THE DINGING OF THE KEY BEING IN PLACE. PLEASE HELP!!  THANKS SO MUCH

Answer
Paul,
Check if the power is getting to the starter via the small wire on the starter. You need at least 10.5 volts before the starter will engage. The large wire at the starter will always have at least 12 volts. The battery could be low, a bad starter, not in park (if automatic) or neutral safty switch out of adjustment, ignition switch failed.
