Driving & Driving Test Tips: Driving in expressways, rain days, heavy rain

When I drive in the expressway, I prefer to drive in the right lane. There are some reasons of why I prefer to drive in that lane.  The first one is that if I want to change lanes, I only need to check the cars that are coming from the left or right lane.  The second reason is that if I going to exit, I have to change one or two lanes before I exit the expressway. Another reason is that the cars that go in the left lanes, usually go faster.  My wife does not like that I drive in the right lane, she feels that is safer to drive in any of the left lanes.  If there are two lanes only, I do not mind at all to drive in any of these two lanes, but if there are more than two, I prefer to drive in the right lane, unless I am going to drive a very long distance.  What is your opinion?

I will tell you what I was told years ago. Middle lanes are good for heavy rain days, for water goes to the sides. And I have been told right lanes are not as safe due to the fact lots of cars come on and off with them. Now, that's just what I am told. I recommend asking another expert to see what they say.
