4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: engine swap, ford bronco, 1986 ford thunderbird

Question
I was wondering whether I can swap the engine from my 1986 Ford Bronco (straight six with a 4 spd) with a 1986 ford thunderbird (5.0 L v-8 EFI and I believe its auto)?? I know that there is motor mount work, but will the idea work for a reasonable amount of money..... and is it worth it?

Answer
Mike,

it will work, however it will be some money and time to accomplish your goal. The motor mounts will be fairily easy, some fords use the same base mounts and different upper mounts for different engine applications so it may be as easy as changing the upper mount itself. As for the transmission, you may have to move you crossmember back a few inches and shrten a drive shaft but it will work. Just make sure your driveline gets balanced by a qualified person or you will feel it.

P.S. You will need the computer and complete wiring harness from the thunderbird and all the sensors as well, it won't run without unless you go carbureted.
