4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: Air Conditioning, vacuum line, auto parts stores

Jeep Gr Cherokee 1996 Laredo. Air Conditioned air coming out of vents goes off momentarily then comes back on. Other times it does not blow air when the motor starts, but will come on momentarily and cool fine. The air is cold and everything seems to work fine except the coming on and going off.I haven't tried the heater to see if it has the same problem. Thanks. Rusty

This can be caused by several things.  It sounds like you may have a loose wire connection, bad relay, or a loose vacuum line.  I would contact a reputable shop that specializes in air conditioning, and have them trace out the problem.  You can, also purchase a repair manual for your Jeep (around $20), and try to trace out the problem yourself.  These manuals are great for trouble shooting problems, and can be purchased at most auto parts stores.
