4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: turn signals, jeep cherokee sport, model jeep

Question
The hazard lights on my 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport work however when I use the turn signals they do not work; no flashing indicator light on the dashboard either. The bulbs are OK as is the fuse, so I'm assuming it is the turn signal flasher, however I cannot locate it.

Do you think this is the problem and if so, where is it located? (cars I've had in the past, I've been able to replace it pretty easily).

Any help you can offer would be appreciate. thank you!

Answer
Al,

I don't have a manual for your model, but the flasher unit, is usually located on, or near the fuse box.  Sometimes the turn signal flasher, and the emergency flasher is part of a single unit, even though they function separately.

I suggest to most of the people with wiring, or vacuum line problems that they purchase a repair
manual (around $20) for their model Jeep.  These manuals give step by step instructions on most repairs, along with diagrams of most controls, such as the vacuum lines, wiring, and switches.  These manuals can come in handy for future trouble shooting.  They can be purchased at most auto
parts stores.  If you don't want to purchase the manual, many stores will let you look up problems such as this if they have an unsealed manual.  Another way to check this out, would be to call your local Jeep dealer, and ask a shop person where the flasher is located.
