Suzuki: 1988 sammy Carb., sammy, bolt

Question
I just bought this and was checking the carb. The choke seems to remain 3/4 closed even when vehicle is at operating temp. If I open the throttle up choke still stays closed down. I was trying to figure out how it works but haven't a clue, is it normal to stay choked? thanks john

Answer
The choke mechanism is water heated, and it's not at all uncommon to see this occur.

You can remove the carb, and replace the little sealed adjuster with a bolt (either 3 or 4 mm, it's been too long since the last one and i don't remember)

You need a shop manual (if you look enough downloads are available online)

It's not normal for the choke to stay on, and when you finally get ready to adjust, set it so the fast idle with the choke on is at least 2500rpm.
