Tips on Buying Cars: Returning a vehicle, buyers remorse, unhappy customer

Question
I recently signed a contract to buy a vehicle it has been two days.  I want to return the vehicle can I legally return the vehicle.  I am located in the state of Va.

Answer
Hi Stephen,

I am sure you're able to return the vehicle. I would encourage you to come up with a good reason to return it though. In the state of Maryland there is no rescission period to return the vehicle.

However, I have accepted returns within a small window of time. Normally it's done to avoid an unhappy customer when they've may be biting off more than they can chew. Sometimes that happens with younger folks when they get caught up in the sales process.

With that said, I am not inferring that this is your case, but I would insist that something is considered as you are a consumer and would like to be treated as not just a one time customer but a returning customer. And, if they're unlikely to cooperate with you, you may never return and you of course will never recommend the dealership to anyone else.

Good luck,

Douglas

P.S. Review all the reasons why you did make the purchase, sometimes buyers remorse sets in and will scare the heck out of you when you know you have 6 years to pay on a new vehicle. Weigh the pros and cons...sometimes after returning a vehicle, it still doesn't solve your original concerns.
