Tips on Buying Cars: negotiating, dealer principals, selling used cars

Question
Hi,

Can you please tell me what administration fees cover? Is it the cost of doing paperwork?
Can this be negotiated away...the dealer wants $400. Can freight/destination charges be negotiated away?

thanks

Answer
Hi Paul
Congratulations...your the first one to ask about administration fees on allexperts...its a good question and a fee that in most cases is brought up after the price of vehicle has been accepted by purchaser...its really the last step for the salesperson to seal the deal...
Sometimes it goes smooth by just saying paperwork...other times it becomes an issue to the point the consumer wants to walk out on the deal...and in some cases the consumer will get a further discount with the adm fees still showing on bill of sale...
pending what dealer you ask the answers will differ...
lein searches...going to licence office...internal paperwork...guarantee free title...a fund that will cover cost should you return with problems that dealer feels obligated to deal with...I have somewhere a detailed print out by one dealers explanation as to fees...should you be interested i will find it ...let me know...
Selling used cars for over 20 years i have always wanted to tell the buyer...but never had the guts...it covers...the dealer principals tee fees and vacations...does that answer your question...

As for freight and destination charges...
i see your shopping new vehicles as these charges only apply to new...
anything can be negotiated away...its the final price that counts...shop more than one dealer and get your best price...
