Tips on Buying Cars: towing -what size type of vehicle, ford man, pepboys

Question
Currently we are towing a 2400lb boat with our 1997 Windstar, 3.8 V6. WE are starting to have transmissions problems. Have we exceeded our limits with this type of vehicle and if so what would be another choice? Can we add a 'towing' package to an after market vehicle?  My husband if basically a "Ford" man!

Answer
Hello, first off. Yes you are towing too much on this vehicle. You can do one of two things. One if you have been towing for a long time I highly reccomend gettin rid of it now. You are about to have nothing but trans problems. Sencond if you just started towing with it you can add at pepboys or another store like it an, auxilary oil and trans coolers to your engine. These will add significant life to a towing vehicle. In fact that is what is standard on the trailer towing package. If you were going to get another vehicle I would suggest the Explorerer this will tow what you need and if you get a 2002 or newer you can have the same amount of seats as the windstar. I hope this answwers all of your questions, if not ask another. And please rate my answers!
